It has been quiet recently but Swavesey was targeted at the weekend with the below.

Theft of 9 Staffie cross puppies, 2 wheelbarrows, and 3 harnesses / saddles.

Theft of various horse riding equipment from a locked container.

CF0371811013 18-19/10
Cow Fen Drove, Swavesey, Cambridge
Offenders have gained entry to a container and stolen the following: black and pink back protector,2x pair of leather chaps, a riding helmet that was recovered at another location in the same area, 5x horse rugs, a pony head collar, 3x lunge ropes, 3x plastic water bowls, and a pair of black riding gloves. Damage has also been caused to the CCTV and a window smashed on a caravan.

Theft of 2 saddles and 2 bridles from a stable, offenders have cut the padlocks off the door to gain entry. No further details about the items at this time.

Please try not to leave your tack at the stables and take it home with you. The nights are drawing in and since the clocks have gone back we have seen a slight increase of theft from isolated premises. Offenders have cut through the barbed wire and then smashed the lock on the stable door and stolen a generator and a wheelbarrow. The generator is a Honda 2.5KBA in red and believe the wheelbarrow as it was used to move the generator. The offenders didn’t touch the tack just wanted the generator.

Quantity of hay bales stolen from open barn at location over a period of weeks.

A black and white female gypsy cob aged 13 years is missing from the field at the above location. There was a gap in the hedge and evidence that the horse left the field at this point but no further news or sightings.

Padlock removed from a shed and the offenders have taken a brown leather saddle Albion K2 with a brown leather girth with green ends and a blue fleece cover on the saddle, and a Stubben brown leather bridle.

Please contact me on the below details if you have any information about any of the above incidents and crimes. Hertfordshire have also suffered a number of tack theft incidents recently so be on your guard they seem to be heading our way. Taking your tack home is the best idea.
If anyone is interested in having there saddles security marked please let me know.

The fencing units are still a favourite, try and keep them away from the gate and try and disguise the flashing lights as they can be seen from a distance in the dark.

Over the weekend a few more than normal equine related incidents. There were also loose horses in a village in the Wisbech rural area that had got out of there field and caused an accident where the horse lost its life due to the injuries and the car driver suffered lots of injuries too. It should be taken as a reminder to check your fencing and gates and make sure the horses and ponies have enough to eat in them or they can damage fencing or even escape by searching for food around the paddock.

A grey pony has gone missing from its field, he is gelded 11hh white with black speckles on his muzzle, he has Cushing’s disease so has a long curly coat and was wearing a dark blue rug with purple binding. Please see the attached poster for further details.

Offenders have entered a caravan that was being used for storage and stolen a Wintec brown saddle some grooming kit and the electric fencing unit.

Another fencing unit stolen, try and disguise them in the field, try not to leave them near the gates and cover the flashing lights with some tape as these can be seen very clearly in the dark.

A number of thefts have taken place this week, the electric fencing units are still being stolen from livestock and horse fields plus some suspicious activity in Swavesey.

Container entered and offenders have stolen a Karcher pressure washer and a red electric fencing unit.

Torch lights seen, no persons or vehicles seen but concerns as previous thefts in that area.

Roofing sheet removed to gain access to an outbuilding and the offender/s have stolen a Husqvarna chainsaw, a McCulloch chainsaw, a Stihl chainsaw, a hedge trimmer, a Dewalt band saw, a lawn mower, saddles and harnesses, and some Christmas presents.

Theft of 12 tin sheets and £1200 worth of wood that was a stable yard that the offenders have dismantled and taken.

A red minibus with approx 8 persons with balaclavas on have turned up at a ridden fox hunt. The persons were protesters and have tried to disrupt the hunt by getting a reaction from the riders, no assaults have taken place. The Helicopter has assisted with the search for these persons who have fled when the Helicopter has arrived. The persons were located but refused to liaise with the Police. Officers stayed near to scene until the hunt have finished in case any further incidents.
This is the 2nd anti protest that has been reported to us in the last month or so, the first was a Pheasant shoot and the persons were also trying to get a reaction but did not succeed.

At various times during this period two batteries from an electric fence, approximately 8 cycles from a greenhouse have been stolen. Today a shed in the farmyard has been found to be open but not thought access gained or anything stolen.

A field location, the offenders have broken into a shed and caravan and stolen a generator, a water pump, a Cob size bridle with a Liverpool driving bit attached, 2 red water buckets, an ammunition box which was used to store energisers and electric fencing equipment, a camping stove, a Masta blue pony rug, a pink and purple with flowers Cozy Pony rug, and a lorry battery.

Looks like it’s got to that time of year again when we will see an increase in feed and hay being stolen.

Over the past 2 weekends approx £200 worth of horse hay has been stolen, the informant has also found some sort of braid in the some of the horses manes and tails.

Although scrap metal theft has gone down they are still after the batteries, try and keep them hidden as well as you can.

Over several weeks it has been noticed that the hay has been going missing, due to this the aggrieved sat up at the premises, offenders did return and although a rapid response from Officers and the Heli they got away with 8 bags of horse feed.

During the above dates the electric fence energiser and battery stolen from the sheep paddock.

Offenders have stolen a set of horse jumps from a field worth £900. 20x jump poles 12ft in length, 2x jump blocks, 4x upright wings made of plastic with weights inside.

An intruder has been seen at the above location, they have left and been followed by the informant, they have stolen items from the yard, believe this to be horse feed but awaiting the crime to be raised. Vehicle stopped by officers in Cambridge, person arrested and vehicle seized.
