National Equestrian Crime Database (NECD) has closed down

Post by TracingEquines »

I was going through some old emails and links earlier and clicked on one going to the NECD website - http://www. necd.org.uk/ (link broken as website not online)

The website gave the error message of "Not Found, HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found." so I emailed Adrian Keeling (Chief Executive of NECD) and asked if the website had been shut down.

His reply was -
Yes - at the end of lady (last ?) year. We had zero support from the equestrian community so it was not worth keeping it going.
Kind regards
Adrian Keeling
I don't know about anyone else but I never received any notification emails to say the NECD was closing down.

Good afternoon, I have happened across this forum whilst trying to research the National Equestrian Crime Database, I have been trying to contact the current/former administrators of the NECD. I think that the idea of the data base is sound but would like your thoughts as 'equestrian people'. I would like to establish a free equestrian specific register similar to immobilise. Would this be something you think has legs? I would appreciate input, and if possible to be put in contact with Mr Keeling to see if his database template is still in existence. Thanks Andy, The Rural Security Company.
