Patch (Marble), 13.2hh approx, skewbald gelding

Post by tessie1 »

Looking for history on a welsh cob called Patch, now named Marble.
He is around 11yr old and approx 13.2hh, skewbald with two blue eyes. No idea on breeding except that his breeder might be in the Builth Wells/Llanerchcoedlan area.

He is now a very sweet pony, would try anything for me, but he was bad for biting when he first came and very 'joggy' and defensive. I have heard that he would roll with some customers when he was on loan to 'free-rein' riding centre for a couple of months and bit the farrier's back so badly that the farrier beat him up. No health probs.

I bought him at the end of August 2010 from Cantref Riding Centre in Brecon, who had had him for around 4 years. They bought him through the sales from a dealer, from the Phillips family at Llanerchcoedlan Farm, who were at the end of their tether as he was too difficult for them. They themselves bought him as a 3 yr old for their daughter to ride from a woman living not far away, running a bit of a shambolic riding place. I think she was possibly called 'Sally' something... just had a few horses on her farm, and people would come and ride them etc. So really I am trying to find the Breeder/breaking in-er from foal to 3 yr old. Hopefully they won't be too far away from Llanerchcoedlan and someone might remember a skewbald foal with two blue eyes.

He has a white blaze, pink nose, but brown around his eyes, despite them both being blue. A brown spot right behind his offside shoulder/withers, stripy hoofs, white and black mane and tail. He also had a 5-inch long scar down his back, slightly on his nearside, very thin, like a wire cut.
