Rural watch message 29/11/2011

Please be aware that there was a tack room burglary last evening at Bretforton where the entire contents of the store room were stolen. This includes saddlery for three horses. I do not have actual details of the loss yet but if you are offered any equipment in suspicious circumstances please call us on our new number 101 quoting incident number 115-s-291111.

Tractor weights are being stolen and possibly sold for scrap. We are currently visiting all the known scrap yards in the area and checking records in order to prevent stolen items being traded for cash. If you know of any information that could assist us please let us know or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55 111.

Many thanks, Gail.

Worcestershire Regulatory Services, trading standards team are warning Worcestershire residents to be on their guard in the lead up to the festive season. 2011 has seen a rise in the number of "computer repair" calls originating from overseas. Individuals from outside of the UK are making unsolicited calls to local residents advising them that their computers have faults and they can offer a service to fix them. We are advising residents that under no circumstances should they allow remote access to their computers or provide any personal details or bank account information to unknown callers.

Steve Jorden Head of Regulatory Services said "In the lead up to the festive season people are often busy and distracted and can easily fall foul to scams. We are urging residents to be on their guard and not to provide any personal or bank details to unsolicited callers of any kind"

If you have information or have been contacted by an unsolicited caller you can report this to Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06.

Dear all, we have had a huge increase of metal/scrap thefts recently in the Evesham and Broadway area. A vehicle to look out for is a red and grey Mitsubishi L200 pick up. It is currently bearing a '51' registration plate. Please report any suspicious sightings on our new number 101.

There is also some concern in the rural area around Cleeve Prior and the Littleton's. In the last 10 days a medium sized 'Akita type' dog has attacked some horse riders along the bridle path on the top of Fish and Anchor Bank. This has caused the horses to bolt and a child received a serious injury when he was unseated. It has also been reported that sheep have been attacked. The owners of the dog have not been identified.

Please be aware that this area may now be considered unsafe.

Please pass any of these emails to friends or family who you think might benefit from the information.
Thanks, Gail.

Longtown
Another case of sheep worrying has been reported (28th Oct) at the same farm as in previous occasions. This time, two dogs were seen in the field chasing the sheep but they were some distance away there is no description on this occasion. Before they could be caught up with they ran off, leaving one sheep injured.
Incident ref 138-s-281013

Another repeat victim in the village, this time for theft of red diesel from a tank in an isolated field, the same location as before. This has happened in the 48 hours prior to the 28th Oct, between 20 - 40 gallons have been taken.
Incident ref 152-s-281013

Peterchurch
A suspicious vehicle has been reported to us, by a farmer just outside the village. At around noon on the 28th, a silver Isuzu twin cab truck drove into the farmyard and the driver asked if there was any straw to buy. He had a slight Welsh accent and had a female and child in the truck with him. The only details of the registration are that it was an X registration - did the same truck visit your property?

Rowlestone
38 unmarked Texel ewe lambs were stolen from a field between Rowlestone and Walterstone Common overnight 27th/28th, probably between 4am and 6am. The gate to the field was left open and the rest of the flock were found nearby. There was evidence of a vehicle having stopped near the gate, and fresh sawdust was left in the road, presumably from the rear of the lorry that they were taken in.

Rare Chickens Stolen From Hanbury
Police are appealing for information about the theft of eight rare breed chickens from near Redditch.
The eight brown and gold Welsummer chickens - three cockerels and five hens - had been bred for competition.

They had been bred by their owner, and included an award-winning cockerel, which was worth up to £100.
