HORSEWATCH ALERT 18/03/14

CAUNSALL - Suspicious People - Kinver Lane - At approximately 4pm on 17th March, a van was driving slowly along the lane, a female with a foreign accent got our of the van and approached a field where a female was attending to her horses. As the female was asking questions regarding stables in the area, two males in the van seemed to be interested in the horses she had. No offences reported at this time.

Theft - A Red Honda Quad Bike has been stolen from Sladd Barn Livery, Gypsy Lane. This happened sometime between 7pm 24/3/14 and 6.45am 25/3/14

Information from West Mercia Police:

Theft – Redhill Lane, Rednal, Birmingham Occurred overnight between Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May. Unknown offender/s have climbed over the gate into the field of a smallholding. They have killed a sheep there, stolen the meat and left behind the remains.

Theft – Dayhouse Bank, Romsley, Halesowen
Occurred between Sunday 27th April and Friday 2nd May. Oil tank situated on a premises in a rural location. Offender/s have cut through the padlocks on the oil tank and siphoned off 500 litres of fuel.

Burglary – Fieldhouse Lane, Romsley, Halesowen
Occurred between 5.15pm and 7.50pm on Wednesday 30th April. Unknown offenders have entered a secure storage unit in a stable block and have stolen a horse blanket, and thrown other tack around the yard.

Theft - Kingsland church, Kingsland, Herefordshire
Stolen between 12th Friday 2nd May 2014 and 4.30pm Saturday 3rd May from a field near to Kingsland church, Kingsland, Herefordshire were three Dorset Cross lambs which were ready for slaughter. Did anyone see someone loading lambs into the back of a trailer during this time. If so, please contact the police on 101 and quote incident OIS 0574S 031514.

Information from West Mercia Police:
Alert from West Mercia Police: Field, bordering A449, Droitwich to Kidderminster road, Worcestershire.

Between 8pm on Sunday 11th May and 11am on Monday 12th May, unknown offender has cut the barbed wire fencing bordering a field causing damage and concern for sheep wandering onto the road.

Theft: Between 21:00 hours on Wednesday 1st October and 09:00 hours on Thursday 2nd October persons unknown have attended farm land in Risbury, Leominster and have stolen a Manual Hydraulic Loader, Lift Truck and Sack truck .

BURGLARY - WOODEN STABLE AND TACK BARN – Manor Rd, Clifton on Teme, reported Sunday 12th Oct 0822hrs. Occurred between 1830hrs 11th Oct and 0700hrs 12th Oct.

The location is a stable yard in a field on the outskirts of Clifton on Teme near to Severn Trent. Between the above stated times access has been gained to the field. It is believed that access was gained by unknown persons driving around the field boundary. Once in the field, offenders have cut through the padlock to the tack room and have stolen all items. Saddle, bridles, rugs etc built up over a number of years, altogether having a value of well over £2000 was stolen.

A neighbour walking the dog on the night of 11th Oct and saw a tatty white van, possibly a dirty type old van either Renault, Citroen or Peugeot (with card blocking out the back windows) went onto the yard track, saw the neighbour walking the dog and the vehicle went off by the sewage work. No registration number was taken. The vehicle was seen again in the early evening, driving away from the scene of the crime at speed.

Burglary (not dwelling) – Kinlet Road, Far Forest, Near Bewdley, Worcestershire
Occurred between 2nd and 10th October. Location is farmland with a barn. Unknown offender/s have entered a secure barn has been entered and items stolen including power tools. West Mercia Police Incident number 373S 101014

THEFT - MUNSTONE RD, MUNSTONE, HEREFORD
Between 19:00:00 on SUNDAY 12-OCT-2014 and 16:00:00 on MONDAY 13-OCT-2014 persons unknown have removed a quantity of horse equipment and tack from within a field at this location, which had been left insecure. Also removed was a section of approx 10-15 metres of electric fencing and tape as well as the posts which secured it. Incident number 0500S 131014, Crime number:22EB/66238X/14

Theft – Lye Head, Bewdley, Worcestershire
Occurred between Friday 10th and Tuesday 14th October. Unknown offender/s have broken a lock on a metal gate and entered a field in a rural location in a vehicle. They have then stolen a homemade log splitter, from where it was stored under a tarpaulin.

Theft – Longmore, Chaddesley Corbett, Kidderminster
Occurred between 4.30pm on Tuesday 14th and 2.30pm on Tuesday 14th October. Location is a very remote field where horses are stored. Unknown offender/s have stolen a transformer battery next to the perimeter fence. Incident number 398S 151014

We received reports around lunchtime yesterday of a Maroon Ford Connect box van, registration YH55 *YX, attending rural isolated properties asking for scrap in the Bringsty and Winslow areas of Bromyard. Please keep an eye out for this vehicle. A big thank you to the persons who took the trouble to let us know about this.

Tenbury - On a separate note, out of area but worth looking out for… Tenbury colleagues were alerted to an elderly gentleman touting for driveway clearing and tree cutting work earlier today. He was driving a white, Ford Ranger pick up vehicle, VRM starts OY02. Please let us know if he turns up in our area. There are strict guidelines around doorstep, unsolicited callers. Any work carried out (by such callers) over £35 is subject to a seven day cooling off period and must, by law, be accompanied with contractual paperwork documenting rights to cancel, the wording of which must comply with Regulations. Alerts from West Mercia Police

Gretton: Between noon and 5pm on 19/10 a barn along a track from Gopshill Lane, Gretton was broken into by breaking off the padlock from the side door. Property including a red garden rotavator and a copper hot water cylinder were stolen.

Tirley: Between 6pm on 13/10 and 3pm on 14/10 a green John Deere 6620 Tractor and a red Teagle muck spreader were stolen from a farm at Town Street, Tirley.

Cradley, Malvern: On 21st October at about 4.40pm two cars came down the drive - a silver Mazda/Toyota saloon and a white car. A man (approx age late 30s/40s) driving the first car was dressed in a camouflage jacket and said they were looking for Wychford End – He was given directions and they turned round and left. The groom has two Lurcher dogs and 10 minutes after these individuals left realised the dogs were missing and called them, went up the drive and was told by a neighbour’s gardener that he had seen the dogs being grabbed and put in a boot but following a struggle the dogs escaped; the groom subsequently managed to retrieve them safely.

Rural and Horse Watch Crime Alerts Bulletin – 3 November 2014

Alerts from West Mercia Police

South Shropshire: A break-in at a farmhouse in Squirrel Lane, Lower Ledwyche, Ludlow, was discovered by a cleaner around 1pm on Mon 27 October. No further details were available.

A farm shed by the A113 at Bromfield was broken into overnight between Sat/Sun 25-26 October. A large quantity of red diesel was taken.

Bredenbury/ Bromyard: Appeal for information in the Bredenbury, Bromyard area.

22nd October, between 1400-1700hrs a 4ft red and black Logic Topper trailer was stolen from a rural property in Bredenbury. It may have been sighted on the back of a low loader/flat bed near to/on the lane down the side of the Three Pines Garage, Bredenbury.Did you see anything? 4th November sometime during the day a male and female in a black Nissan motor vehicle was seen acting suspiciously. They removed a ‘Swing Rope’ from the grass outside a dwelling.

Sometime between 4th-5th Nov people were seen ‘lamping’ on farm land. Damage has been caused to the electric fencing. Road side gates have been damaged and that cattle could have got out on to the train tracks.

Theft - Pershore High School, Station Road
Sometime during the night of 1st Nov persons unknown have removed the skids which were attached to a trailer parked to the caretaker’s house. The skids were underneath an Ifor Williams tipper trailer rand were secured by lynch pins. The lynch pins have been removed and the skids removed - they are 2.5 metres long & 12" wide with holes punched into one side to give it rough edge.
