This message relates to crime no. AH/12/562. A Point Two Air safety jacket worth about £440 was stolen from a equestrian retailer in Helston in the middle of April. We are asking all owners of horses if this item has been sold on or they have seen it. The jacket is a speacialist one which inflates almost instantly should a rider start to fall from their horse and had it's CO2 canisters in place, the size stolen was a small. The lady that carried out the theft was a white female, in her 40s, 5ft 4, medium build with shoulder length long blonde hair and wearing a large white coat. If you have any information contact 101 quoting AH/12/562.

Over recent days there have been several reported instances whereby an individual has cold called by telephone, farms in the Liskeard, Looe and St Blazey areas. I have just received news, that my name is being used in some of these calls (See below) THIS IS NOT TRUE, Myself or an Admin of Horsewatch will not cold call. The two males calling are rude when money is not given. One farm has had three calls! luckily, they know me and informed me.

Good evening everybody.
If anybody should get offered one or more western saddlecloths I would be very grateful to hear from them. I sell saddles and other tack, working from home, my stock is secure...or so I thought.
Last stocktake showed a number of items missing, but the saddlecloths are quite distinctive and I have pictures. My area is Par.
Thank you,
Sue

Incident in Luxulyan area. Crime number GW/12/602.

Owners are concerned after a series of unusual events happening at their rural field. Firstly, their horse was mane plaited (not mutual grooming) three weeks back, then recently the same horse has obtained a leg injury, a clean, large cut.

The horse was stabled, on returning to check, the owners found the stable door open. A kickbolt had been opened also. This happened on many occasions, the police then being called. For the time for the police to arrive, the stable door was reopened. Both the horses were spooking and unsettled.

A male has been seen in the area and acting suspicious. Although, spotted by the police, the male could not be found.

The police are asking if anyone has had similar, please contact them.

It has been brought to my attention that a horse had been let out of their stable, without permission, last night. Can anyone bring light to this please.

Also cows have been let out of their field by the electric fence unit being turned off, these cows were able to enter a very busy road. The owner moved them back into their field but found on checking later, that the fence had been turned off again.

These incidents are around the Lostwithiel, Luxulyan areas.

Please report any incidents, it doesn't matter how trivial they may seem.

Ring 101, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or 999 in an emergency (someone on your land is classed as an emergency)

Attempted theft of horse trailer. Par.

'Bald man with lots of tattoos and piercings', lifted gate from mountings, when approached, he said he had permission from owner. This was not true.

I'm trying to find more details of when and what colour vehicle but the person who witnessed wasn't able to get reg no.

Keep vigilant.

Horse Put Down After Hammer Attack
Area = Devon

A horse has died in Devon, after what police suspect to be a deliberate attack.

The 16.3hh bay mare was put down after it was found lying in its field with a serious head injury on Sunday (2 August).

Police believe the 15-year-old thoroughbred had been deliberately attacked, though they are “unable to say for certain” what happened to the animal.

The owners of the horse think the attack happened between 6pm and 8.30pm at the property in Chittlehampton, near Umberleigh in North Devon.

Vets who attended the incident were forced to put the horse down due to the extent of its injuries.

However, Devon and Cornwall police told H&H the cause of injury is “still being determined”.

“One thought is that it has been struck with a blunt instrument like a hammer,” a spokesman said.

The police are now appealing for information, and are urging all horse owners in the area to be on their guard.

“Due to the severity of its injuries the 15-year old thoroughbred had to be put down,” said police spokesman Steve Grant.

“We are asking owners of horses and livestock in the area to remain vigilant and to report anything suspicious.

If any member of the public has any information relating to this crime, please contact police on 101@Devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk quoting crime reference CR/054196/15.

Location = Chittlehampton, Devon
