Re: Kent Horsewatch - 2011 to 2014

Post by TracingEquines »

1 December 2015

Yesterday evening I received a message via a private Farm Watch setup, a story that I found to be quite alarming and very upsetting. So before spreading panic amongst the equine community I decided to check out the facts. The message said
"Over the weekend of Friday 27th to Sunday 29th November 2015 a dead pony has been found tied to gate, believed to have been shot dead".

Location - Headcorn, Kent

The facts are that a pony was found dead on the side of the highway with its back legs tied to a field gate. The pony was examined by a vet who confirmed that in their opinion the pony had died quite some time before it was dumped. It is believed that the carcass was either put into the back of a large van or placed onto the back of a flatbed truck or lorry, the reason its legs were tied to the gate was so the the driver could drive away thus pulling the pony out of or off the vehicle.

As stated the pony had been dead quite some time before it was dumped so we have no reason to believe that it will occur again.

7 December 2015

Five turnout rugs were stolen overnight last night from the backs of horses in the Chislehurst/Orpington area of Kent (Greater London).

They are described as =

1 X 5'9” navy and grey Weatherbeeta medium turnout,

1 X 5'9” purple shires fleece All post coded BR5 3DF.

I am awaiting the Metropolitan Police Crime Reference Number. In the meantime if you have any information on these rugs please email sussexhorsewatch AT gmail.com
