I received this message from a distraught farmers wife, please keep a look out. My husband has just returned from our farm situated in Mill Lane, Fletching - he was on the yard and heard loud shouting etc. and went out to investigate to find many runners shouting and running along the footpath - some of which were not on the footpath in an adjoining field. Our newly lambed ewes and lambs were in the footpath field and have been absolutely terrified by all this commotion - running in a panic lambs going in all directions and getting separated from their mothers. My husband went and spoke to these idiots and made himself very clear that they should respect the countryside and the animals in it. We had a similar incident a couple of years ago which resulted in the death of one our calves. I think the running club concerned call themselves "Hash Harriers" they run from pub to pub via footpaths shouting asthey go.
Good news all the lambs survived.

It looks like we have the beginning of a mini epidemic, we had two more yards broken into overnight last night. Please be vigilant, you have been warned.

Overnight last night two adjacent yards in Hole Street Ashington, were entered. A four wheeled, cob exercised cart was taken. So far I do not have a full description or photographs but will issue these as and when I get them. From the adjacent yard a jockey door and the top door from the front unload ramp of a very old Rice Beaufort trailer, red painted over silver. These were no doubt taken to do a repair job on another.

The intruders entered by climbing over the main gate, broke into several outbuildings rummaging through storage trunks, cupboards and drawers, nothing was taken from them, they just left everything strewn over the floors.

No saddles or bridles are kept in these buildings. They tried to break the lock off a container but did not succeed, will they come back again.
