LSD 2913/1/M:
Saluki x - dog (neutered) Smooth coated Tan Markings: Tan body,,wWhite feet and (a bit bald) stomach and corkscrew tail with white tip. Features : Circular scar on Leftside. Several scars on legs. Slightly built but well muscled Microchip number : 95800000060489 Height: 24 ins Age : 3.5 yrs Not wearing a collar. Name is " Bruce" Went missing from : Bristol, (Beaufort Road / Cossham Road area of St George) on 1/1/09 Circumstance of loss: Bruce was recovering from a Canine Epileptic Seizure. He gets these regularly every 10-12 days and follow a pattern afterwards. We take his collar off at night as during one such seizure he nearly strangled himself with it, so He was not wearing his collar when he disappeared. I can't believe now I didn't put it back on before letting him out? But I didn't. After he had stopped he seizure and seemed to have come around (allowing us to approach and accepting attention) I had let him into the front garden to defecate which is often the first thing he needs to do after recovering. Full recovery has taken a couple of hours before but this was only 5 minutes after he came around. I am sure, I know, I checked the gate was closed. Also it was very cold -1c, 4:00 in the morning and I was only in my dressing gown. So I left the poor lad to his privacy and waited, front door open, in the hall. When I checked again (less than 2mins) he had gone. The gate was found to be slightly ajar. I immediately dressed and started looking - again with a minute or so - checking the immediate roads and then all the spots he goes to regularly (The local park, lampposts, spots he's found scraps of food etc) then checked again every hour for several hours. Sadly saw and heard nothing. Additional Info : No Insurance because. . . Bruce suffers from Canine Epileptic Seizures (petit mal to date) every 10-12 days. Each attack lasts 2-5mins but dog is utterly confused and terrified of owners/people afterwards for anything upto 5 hours. Although normally seeks reassurance within 2-3mins once he has checked and re-familiarised himself with surroundings (Dogbed, Dog bowls, Cat bowls, Marking spots in garden etc..) Bruce was a rescue dog. (HollyHedge Sanctuary: 01275 474719). He is now a lovely gentle dog (we have 2 cats and he is fine with them often sharing sofas etc.) He loves as much fuss as he can get but still gets nervous in unfamiliar surroundings. When we got him he was terrified/very nervous of and around Men. He is still very cautious around unknown people (especially Men). Unless food is involved. Bruce is typical to type and VERY food orientated. Bruce is an extremely BAD Car traveller. Often salivating very heavily, and then vomiting within minutes if travelling left alone in the back of car or in travel cage. Even with my Wife sitting with him Bruce may not be sick but he will be exhausted and nauseous(off food) for a good while on reaching destination. We try not to travel with him. Although he has improved, greatly but slowly, since we took care of him.
