Reported: At approx 2pm an unknown person reached into a parked vehicle and stole items from back seat.
Outcome: Faulty lock meant vehicle was insecure. Items taken were 17” Black Country saddle worth £450 and a Charles Owen navy blue riding hat with tan cheek straps worth £120. Under investigation.

Reported: Several horses on school fields, staff unable to let children out.
Outcome: Owner traced and asked to attend. Horses on school grounds again several days later, owner advised again and told to secure fencing.

Reported: Four untethered horses in an unfenced field. Caller concerned they may get onto road.
Outcome: Horses placed there in response to an earlier incident. Owner was advised of whereabouts of horses and told to retrieve them.

Stanedge Road, Bakewell
Reported: Various items (of a non equestrian nature) were stolen from a stable on Stanedge Road.
Outcome: Under investigation. It is believed other stables in the area may also have been entered and a Community Message was sent out appealing for any information.

Reported: Two loose horses in the middle of the road.
Outcome: Attended and managed to get them into a field. Location recorded in case anyone reports the horses missing.

Reported: Also incs 299, 446, 725 of 23rd and 80, 190, 223 of 24th and 482, 513 of 26th. Numerous reports of four horses constantly escaping from their field (which has no water) and being returned.
Outcome: Local horse owner contacted many times and advised to retrieve horses and secure them.

Outcome: Vet requested officers to attend as horse required putting to sleep as a result of being subjected to cruelty.
Outcome: Attended along with RSPCA.

Reported: Overnight on Weds/Thurs a lock was forced from a shed housed in an open barn and numerous items were stolen from within.
Outcome: Tack items included in theft were 5 head collars valued at £15 each totalling £75. Nothing seen or heard, no forensic evidence left, no CCTV coverage, no living accommodation at farm. Case filed unsolved due to there being no further lines of enquiry to pursue. Crime prevention and security advice given.

Reported: Between 7.30pm and 8.10pm a barn and stables at a remote location were set alight (fortunately no animals were harmed).
Outcome: Attended. Extensive damage caused in what is believed to have been a deliberate act. A suspect has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

Outcome: Attended, located dog owner and warned him under Dog Act that any further incidents would constitute an offence. He admitted to letting dog into field and agreed not to allow this to happen again.

Reported: Various reports of two horses straying.
Outcome: Member of public managed to put them onto playing fields and owner was contacted and advised of location.

Outcome: Owner reported for allowing animals to stray. RSPCA also asked to assess. Owner attended to check on animals.

Outcome: Officers following up with owner as ongoing problem.
