Remarkably, although he has now been banned from owning horses by magistrates this will not stop him either transporting or trading horses in the future.

Ash, from Charles Street, Portsmouth, was given a 12-week suspended prison sentence and banned from keeping horses for five years this week.

He had been found guilty earlier this year of five allegations of causing unnecessary suffering to animals by Portsmouth Magistrates.

He was also ordered to carry out 300 hours' unpaid work and fined £1,500.
