We've just been down to the local shops and went into a couple of the charity shops for a nosey and I got a copy of Monty Roberts, The Horses in my Life for 40p
It's got colour photographs in it as well. Looking forward to having a read of it later on at some point
I saw a couple of Saddle Club books as well, a 3 in 1 and a single book. I used to collect these when I was younger.
There was also one called Pony Tails by Mary somebody

Book Description
Publication Date: 6 Mar 2006
Monty Roberts is known as 'the man who listens to horses' because of his amazing ability to understand and communicate with his equine partners. He has written this book to celebrate the horses throughout his life that have had a special significance: from his first mount, Ginger, through the champion show horses and sprinters, to those he is working with tirelessly today. THE HORSES IN MY LIFE gives a unique insight into his non-aggressive methods and how his relationship with each horse developed. It is an inspirational collection of vignettes that reveals his love and respect for these noble animals. We are invited not only to get to know the individual horses but to share the immense joy that Monty found with them.

Connemara Mollie:An Irish Journey on Horseback (Bradt Travel Guides (Travel Literature))
Author - Hilary Bradt
available in paperback and kindle

Product Description
Review
'.....reading Connemara Mollie was a real treat..... The book is testament to the wonderful journey she enjoyed, bonding with her horse and reliving the people she met and the adventures she enjoyed. It's a lovely, light and easy going book, which will get you booking the riding lessons, the minute you put it down!' Burnley Express 'Hilary Bradt recalls her journey across rural Ireland among the people of Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry in the 1980s in this sweet - and surreptitiously affecting - memoir.' Longitude Books USA 'Hilary's descriptions take us with her every hoofprint of the way as she brings the landscapes to life. She's good on people too, with life in rural Ireland prior to the "Celtic Tiger" boom.' Wanderlust 'With adventure, characters, and lessons learned the hard way, Connemara Mollie has many of the elements of the writer's beloved pony books - but this true-life adventure has a charm all of its own.' The Connemara Journal 'Hilary brings the real Ireland to life and you can't fail to get attached to the equine character.' Horse magazine
Product Description
An account of a journey through western Ireland made in 1984, fulfilling a childhood dream of a long-distance ride. The story centres on the growing bond between the author and her Connemara pony, Mollie and the many challenges that they face before the tragic conclusion in the mountains of Kerry. It is also a portrait of rural Ireland before the "Celtic Tiger" era, built up from conversations with the local people. The journey takes them through Counties Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry, the obstacles to their progress ranging from bogs, stone walls, and the River Shannon. "I've never tried hitchhiking with a horse before" comments the author. "It's not easy." She travelled with no set route, extending her backpacking knowledge acquired in the Andes to horse packing, "seeing the obvious advantage of climbing mountains on someone else's legs and using another's back for the packing."

'What sets this delightful book apart is the rider's relationship with this fabulous pony'. Good Book Guide 'It is an entertaining and inspiring account of a solo journey through a wild and beautiful landscape... you will want to pack your bags to explore the area yourself.' Horse Magazine 'This memoir is an inspiring adventure that is beautifully interwoven with fascinating cultural history.' Wanderlust Magazine
Product Description
The continuation of the journey on horseback through the west Ireland described in Connemara Mollie. With her replacement pony, Peggy, the author travels from the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, south down the coast of Co. Cork, before turning inland through Counties Waterford, Tipperary and Limerick. As with its predecessor, the story is both a portrait of Ireland and its inhabitants in 1984, and the growing bond between the author and her pony. Both needed to confront their fears: Peggy was used to pulling a cart and hated going cross country, while Hilary’s confidence was shattered by her experience in the mountains of Kerry with Mollie. But all ends well.“When she felt soft turf beneath her hooves instead of tarmac Peggy stopped dead in astonishment. Oh brave new world! Without her accustomed blinkers she could see mountains and sky – except that if she wanted to look at something above her she tilted her head sideways to peep under the imaginary blinkers while keeping her neck resolutely horizontal. It was very endearing and made me laugh out loud.”
