The tack room to a riding establishment in Hickstead Lane Hickstead was broken into and 1 x Pesoa Jumping saddle, 1 x Mark Todd Jumping saddle, 1 x bridle & breast plate, 1 x lead chain, 1 x set show boots and a Lemure saddle square were all stolen.

Three bridles, two Stubben and the third an Amigo along with three saddles, one was an 17.5 inch mahogany Biarritz Jumping type, a Black Country 17.5 inch GP and a black Albion dressage saddle 17.5 inch were all stolen from premises in Wineham Lane Wineham.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue attended a Horsebox fire (caused by an electrical Fault) on the A272. There were no horses in it at the time.

Horse riders are being advised to look out for motorcyclists on off road bikes roaring up and down the bridle path near to Abbots Wood, near the long man. There have been several recent reports.

The main barn to a farm in Hadlow Down Road, Crowborough has been broken into and stolen a very old Dressage Carriage, this has red and black wheels and made from wood and metal.

A horse owner, who keeps their horse on a farm in Lower Bognor Road, Chichester found her horse tethered in its stable to a pallet on the yard outside by baler twine.

A shed in a field in Station Road, Hailsham has been broken into and various items of horse related items have been stolen.

Two horses were deliberately let out of their field in the Three Cup Corner area of Heathfield in the early hours of Thursday evening 18/08/2016. Fortunately instead of turning left and going onto the road they turned right and entered a cattle field, the gate to this field had also been deliberately left open.

Between 08:00 and 15:20 on 21/09/2106 a horsebox parked in St Georges Road, Bexhill has had its windscreen smashed. No entry was gained to the vehicle.

0780 Three arrows, from a bow, have been found in a field in West Chiltington where horses are kept; they are about 18” in length. Two have Links Marksman on them and the other says Lightening. The arrows have been collected by police and are being examined by forensics.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue attended a fire of a horsebox on the A24 between Storrington and Ashington. They managed to rescue the horse in it before putting out the fire. It is believed the fire was caused by overheating brakes.

Sussex - people Riding in the West Dean/Lavant area

Warning to people Riding in the West Dean/Lavant area, all gateways from the triangle field (Hayes Down, that leads up towards the trundle have had barbed wire wrapped around the gates and post and the barb wire has been stapled into the posts so that pedestrians and riders etc cannot open the gates, this has been reported to the police and will also be reported to the public rights of way team at the council on Monday!

Over the last six months a horse owner from Findon has been experiencing problems with person/s unknown tampering with their horses such as, cutting manes, tampering with leg straps, undoing buckles, letting horses out and breaking electric fence posts.
