Sussex Horsewatch - April Bulletins

Post by Sussex Horsewatch »

Friday, 31 March 2017

Eight pigs and two horses were reported loose on the roads of Sussex. Please continue to check your roadside hedges and fences every day and where possible padlock field gates. Often members of the public open them, to go into the field but do not close the gate after themselves.

May I remind you that outbuildings seen to be very popular pickings for intruders, which are frequently accessed by crossing neighbouring farms and entering from the rear of the premises. To try to avoid this happening to you: fit security lights all round your buildings that light up when anyone approaches and fit it alarms that go off as soon as anyone makes a forced entry.

Kindest regards
Phillip

It has been a much better week on the highways of Sussex with just 5 sheep reported loose. Please continue to check your roadside hedges and fences every day and where possible padlock field gates, as often members of the public open them to go into the field and do not close them.

It was great news that a tractor and dumper truck that were stolen in the Petworth area last week were very quickly recovered because they were both fitted with tracking devices. May I recommend that if you own expensive vehicles you give serious thought to having them fitted to your vehicles.

Kindest regards
Phillip

This week seven horses, three sheep and one cow reported loose on the highways of East and West Sussex. Please ensure that you check your roadside fences and hedges daily.

The main items of theft are still small hand held tools such as chainsaws (8), strimmers (2), hedge cutters (2), disc cutters (1), leaf blowers, etc. The numbers in brackets is the number reported stolen this week. These items are very easy to dispose of.

Do you have the serial numbers of your hand tools, have you security marked them, if not please think seriously about doing so.

Kindest regards
Phillip
