Community information, Warwickshire

Incident number: Rural Properties
Date: 23/02/2017

Offenders look for opportunities and rural properties due to their locations can be vulnerable. However there are a number of measures that can be put in place to help deter offenders and improve the security of your property. The Warwickshire Rural Watch website www.warwickshireruralwatch.co.uk provides lots of crime prevention advice with short films on home, stable and farmyard security, plus individual advice sheets with examples attached for your reference on farm and outbuildings, quads, sheds, trailers and property marking, etc.

Wildlife crime, as well as an offence, can cause other problems with vehicles damaging crops and boundary fencing. If you see or are aware of anyone poaching or hare coursing please contact the police straight away. If you would like to pass on any information relating to wildlife crime this can also be done on the Warwickshire Wildlife Watchers reporting page on the Warwickshire Rural Watch website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 .

Please be vigilant in rural areas and if you see anyone acting suspiciously on or near your property please call 101 and provide the police with the details, if a crime is in progress always call 999. If it is safe to do so, vehicle registration with the make, model and colour is a great help.

Contact details for your local Rural Crime Coordinators are on our website.

Thank you for your support.

Anti-social behaviour, Church Lane,Whitnash,Warks

We have had reports that a group of teenagers have been chasing the horses around in the fields down Church Lane, this is causing a lot of distress for the horses but the Police are also concerned that someone could get hurt by the horses.

Please if you have teenagers can you talk to them about approaching the horses just in case you are not aware as it could be your son or daughter causing distress for the animals.

One last thing after speaking to the horse owner can I also make members of the public aware NOT to feed the horses apples as they cause lots of stomach problems for the horse. When you do want to feed the horses give them carrots, sprouts, this will not upset their diet and not cause any problems.

If you have any further information regarding the above incident please call 101 or 01926 684248.

Thank you
Whitnash SNT.
