Once inside, a cupboard was forced open and a black bridle with a white flash noseband was stolen along with a plain black bridle and a black Thoroughgood saddle with a plaited leather seat pad.

Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101 quoting reference MH/13/520

Theft of power tools from outbuildings continues to be a problem. Suffolk Police and Trading Standards have received reports in the Mid-Suffolk area about power tools, chain saws and generators all being sold from the back of cars and vans.

The vehicles being used are panel vans sign written with rental companies, a silver VW Golf and a 5 series BMW. If you are offered these items please note down registrations and report to Suffolk Police on 101 as soon as possible

Please be especially cautious of any individual who approaches you and offers to sell you something at an incredibly reduced price.

Trust your instincts - If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Anyone who is offered goods for sale out the back of a van, by a person who approaches them in the street, or uninvited at the doorstep, should be highly suspicious. Goods sold in this way may be stolen, counterfeit, unsafe or simply overpriced.

Our advice is simply never to deal with traders in this way.

Electric fencing and energising units are naturally vulnerable to theft due to the remote location they are frequently used.
If you are not using the unit and fencing for sometime, e.g over the winter months, remove it all and store in a secure place.
At very least you should mark your energiser unit with your postcode by either engraving or using an indelible marker pen or paint.

It is possible to purchase a specialist box, which may be locked and electrified. To deter vandals and opportunistic thieves, the box can be connected to the energiser, making the energiser box itself live. Access to the box is gained using an insulated key, so you don't have to give yourself a shock every time you wish to open it

Theft from vehicle – Stratford St Mary (CO7)
Crime Ref: HD/13/1454
Around 2:30pm on Monday 2nd September a handbag was stolen from an unlocked vehicle by three males on quad bikes.

There have been a number of incidences over the past few weeks at equestrian / farm establishments and in remote rural areas where vehicles have been entered and items stolen from within. In some cases the vehicles have been left insecure or locked, but with valuables on display. On some of the crimes (in the IP7, IP8 and CO7 areas) males on quad bikes have been a common feature.

When leaving your vehicle be sure to remove all your valuables (put them in the boot) and lock all the doors. Keep your keys with you – don’t be tempted to leave them lying around the yard. At some riding schools keys can be left in the office, but make sure that the office is attended or locked at all times.

At shows and riding clinics it is very easy to be complacent and trust everyone at the event. It is easy to assume that you’re with like-minded people and drop your guard, but that’s when you’re vulnerable and thieves take advantage.

Don’t leave your saddle resting against the horse box or the bridle hanging off the wing mirror – when unattended lock your tack away. Don’t leave your handbag, mobile phone or wallet lying on the front seat of an unlocked lorry. Remain vigilant and if you see anyone lurking around the lorry park that seems suspicious or out of place, immediately contact the police and a show steward.

Competitors are being warned to be on their guard at equestrian events following thefts from horse lorries at two separate equestrian venues last weekend (15 – 16 March 2014). Cash was stolen from the unlocked and unattended vehicles.

Suffolk Police urges competitors at horse shows to use common sense and ensure they are not easy targets.

It is easy to assume that you’re with like-minded people and drop your guard, but that’s when you’re vulnerable and thieves take advantage.

Don’t leave your saddle resting against the horse box or the bridle hanging off the wing mirror – when unattended lock your tack away. Don’t leave your handbag, mobile phone or wallet lying on the front seat of an unlocked vehicle. Remain vigilant and if you see anyone lurking around the lorry park that seems suspicious or out of place, immediately contact the police or a show steward.

Officers are reminding motorists to lock their vehicles and ensure belongings are not left inside after the theft of a handbag at an equestrian event in Sicklesmere. The bag was left inside the living quarters of a horse lorry at around 1.30pm on Monday 21st April. When the owner returned to the lorry at around 3.30pm the bag was missing.

Recovered items appeal

Police are releasing images of a number of items that have been seized by officers investigating burglaries and thefts across the county.

Attempts have been made to reunite property with its rightful owners but in some cases this has not been successful.

Police are now releasing images of items including a quad bike, a watch, a camera and power tools in the hope that they may be recognised. In addition to these police have a number of power tools that have not found their way back to their owners and would like to hear from anyone who have had similar items stolen and not yet recovered. Items include chainsaws, hedge trimmers and drills.

Photos of the items can be found on the Suffolk Constabulary website.
