Saddles Stolen (Brockford IP14)

Between 10:30pm and 11:00pm Friday 25th September three saddles, a ride on lawnmower, a quad bike and power tools were stolen from a smallholding in Brockford. The suspects cut a chain on a perimeter gate and removed the items from outbuildings.
One of the stolen saddles had been stamped with an address – have you been offered a saddle for sale recently that has been marked? (We are unable to disclose the address in this bulletin)

Suspicious Activity (Stonham Aspal IP14)

Between 5:30pm on Monday 28th and 8:00am Tuesday 29th September a gate to a paddock in Mill Green Stonham Aspal has been lifted off its hinges and left next to the fence – (possibly to return to remove a later time?)

Burglary at stables (Battisford IP14)

Police are appealing for witnesses after horse equipment was stolen from an outbuilding in Battisford.

The incident happened in Burnt House Lane between 6.30pm on Tuesday 6 October and 6am on Wednesday 7 October.

An offender has broken into an outbuilding and stolen a leather head collar, white silk hat with brown spots, numnahs, Ariat Bromont riding boots, liveryman clippers, Pro-lite air jacket, three bridles, a Wintec saddle and a Bates saddle.

Theft of Tack – Herringswell (IP28)

A quantity of riding equipment, tools and bales of hay were stolen during a break-in to a barn in Herringswell Road, Herringswell between 5.30pm on Thursday 15th October and 8.45am the following morning.

The tack stolen included a black Spalding Britannica dressage saddle marked and registered with Cambridgeshire Horse Watch, lunging and training equipment and a number of bridles.

Amongst the other things taken were 10-15 bales of hay, a storage cabinet and feed bin so a van, lorry or trailer was most probably used to remove the items.

Did you see such a vehicle in the vicinity during the key times or been offered a saddle marked by Cambridgeshire Horse Watch? If you have any information about this theft please contact Suffolk Police on 101 quoting reference MH/15/2102

Attempted burglary – Exning (CB8)

Between 7pm on Tuesday 13th October and 6.30am on Wednesday 14th October a number of outbuildings at a stable yard in Exning were broken into. Padlocks securing outbuildings at the yard were forced and the buildings entered, however nothing was taken.

Theft of trailer and straw – West Row (IP28)

Between 7.50pm and 9.50pm on Friday 15th October offenders have forced open the door of a locked and secure barn on a farm on Mildenhall Road, West Row and have then loaded up a 3.5 tonne Ifor Williams plant trailer with approximately seventy bails of straw. Also stolen was a blue Yamaha YZ250F off-road scrambler bike and a large Stihl strimmer.

Theft of riding boots from stables – Baylam (IP6)

Between 5pm on Wednesday 14th October and 8am the following morning a pair of riding boots were stolen from a stable yard in Upper Street, Baylam. Bolt cutters were used to cut a secure padlock to gain entry to an outbuilding to steal a pair of size
5½ Tretorn black Swedish riding boots with white stitching.

Theft of horse jumps – Lindsey (IP7)

Over a seven day period between Sunday 11th and Saturday 17th October one set of horse jumps comprising of 2 wings and 3 planks have been removed from a field in Lindsey nr Hadleigh.

Burglary - Forward Green nr Stowmarket

Between 5pm on Sunday 25th October and 12:15pm on the following day the padlock securing a door to an outbuilding was jemmied off. Entry had been gained to the property in Forward Green near Stowmarket; however nothing appears to have been stolen.

This incident is being linked to a break into sheds and stables in a nearby property between 11pm on Sunday 25th October and 5am the following morning. Outside security lights were smashed, padlocks cropped off and stables were entered. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Theft of horse trailer – Ixworth (IP31)

Between 4pm on Thursday 29th October and 4pm the next day a red Richardson horse trailer was stolen from an outbuilding from a property in Ixworth. A John Deere ride on lawnmower was also stolen. The lawnmower is descried as green and yellow in colour with blue scrapes on the paintwork and had a flat front right-hand tyre.

Theft of lawnmower and criminal damage to paddock fencing – Palgrave (IP22)

Between 11pm on Friday 30th October and 8.20am the following morning a ISEKI SX19 ride on lawnmower was stolen from a property in Palgrave, near Diss. The mower described as dark blue in colour with red/orange paint splatters on the seat and frame was removed from a secured outbuilding.

The victim was alerted to the theft due to their horses being found some distance away having escaped through paddock fencing which had been cut by the suspects in order to gain access to the property.

Between 4pm and 9.25pm on Friday 18th December a burgundy Ifor Williams HB510 double horse trailer was stolen from a field in Burthorpe Green, Barrow near Bury St Edmunds

Access to the property was gained by gates being lifted off their hinges and the hitchlock securing the trailer was smashed off prior to the trailer being removed.

Electric Fencing Stolen

Area = Suffolk

A 12v car battery used to power electric fencing was stolen between 10.30am and 3.30pm on Thursday 14th January from a horse paddock in Worlington Road, Mildenhall, Suffolk.

Witnesses or anybody who saw any suspicious activity at the time above, or would like to report any other unusual Behaviour are asked to call Suffolk Police on 101 reference 37/12207/16

Stolen Equestrian Equipment

Area = Suffolk

Police are appealing for information following a burglary where a quantity of equestrian equipment was stolen from a stable in Flatford Road, East Bergholt between 6pm on Tuesday 12th January and 7:45am on Wednesday 13 January.

Two saddles and three bridles were stolen during the burglary where the suspect/s forcibly removed the lock securing the building.

37/16942/16 Burglary from stables – Barnham nr Thetford
At 3.30 pm on Tuesday 9th February a member of public saw a group of young males carrying a saddle and bridle; when the males were aware they had been seen they dropped the property and ran towards the direction of the river. On making enquiries the tack had been removed from an unsecure stable in Thetford Road, Barnham.

37/17055/16 Burglary from stables – Little Blakenham
Between 5.30pm on Tuesday 9th February and 7.30am on Wednesday 10th February two saddles were stolen from a metal storage container on a farm in Little Blakenham. The saddles stolen are a brown leather PJ brand and a black leather Ideal brand.

Theft of Tack – Claydon (IP6)

Police are appealing for information after a tackroom was broken into overnight on 14/15 July.
The secured tackroom at a property in Church Lane, Claydon was broken into sometime between 9.30pm on Thursday 14th July and 6.30am the following morning.
Once inside 15 saddles and 8 bridles were stolen along with two leaf blowers.

ALSO
The same night a storage container was broken into on a nearby property in Barham Church Lane, Barham
Between 10pm on Thursday 14th July and 7.30am the following morning offenders cut off a padlock to the container and stole a concrete mixer, a heavy-duty breaker and a disc cutter.

37-55269-16 – cruelty to animals - Raydon

Police are appealing for information or witnesses to suspected cruelty to animals. On three separate occasions in recent weeks, stones have been thrown at horses in a paddock in Noakes Road, Raydon.

On 27th August, 3rd and 10th September stones described as ranging from the size of a cherry tomato to a large strawberry were found in the paddock and have left one of the horses with an injury on its rump.

The elderly horses, both over 20 years old and one partially blind have shown signs of distress and sweating from running.

Police appeal for witnesses to these incidents or any information that may assist to be passed to the Incident & Crime Management Hub at Suffolk Constabulary, via 101, or e-mail ICMH at suffolk.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 55269/16.
