How To Add Your Advert To the Tracing Equines website

To create an account on Tracing Equines, please fill in this form and Press Register - http://www.tracingequines.co.uk/horses/ ... =register1

Login to the Tracing Equines website by filling in your username and password and click on Login.

Then click on Tracing Equine Adverts (http://www.tracingequines.co.uk/horses/ ... ne-adverts), found on the menu bar on the left, to take you to the main directory of Adverts. To place an advert, click on Add Entry, found in the middle of the page of category listings at the top. Fill in the form, enter as much information as possible and click on Send.

Your advert will then be queued for approval and once approved will be made live and the listing added to the relevant A Complete List category.

Please Note - Your advert will be placed in ONE category ONLY.
The specific categories (Colts & Stallions, Freeze Marked, Micro-chipped, Stolen, Tracing _ Country) take presidence over the Geldings and Mares categories.

Advert Advice

Make a list of what you know about your horse -

- Age,
- Height,
- Breeding,
- Temperament,
- Any vices or hang-ups he may have,
- Health problems,
- Where you bought him from,
- Where you sold him to,
- What year you sold/got him.

Add to the list any distinguishing marks he may have, such as whorls, scars, markings, where his freeze-mark is.

Don't forget to keep your adverts up to date with any fresh information that you find out and with up to date photos where possible. Most importantly - Make sure your email address is valid. Adverts with an invalid email address are removed periodically.

Top Tips When Writing Your Advert

When writing your advert, remember to use punctuation (such as full stops and commas in the correct places), capital letter I instead of i, capital letter for the start of Names and Places and to include paragraphs if you need to.

Bad example of an advert - "i'm looking for 12.2hh pony, last seen in Wales" - this gives the reader absolutely nothing to link your pony with theirs

Good example of an advert - "I'm looking for a 15.2hh, chestnut horse called Socks. He has 3 white socks and a white star. I sold him from Leeds to someone said they lived in Kent. They had a 14year old daughter who was going to take Socks showjumping. Socks loved showjumping and would often jump double clears. He hated dressage with a passion" - this gives the reader so much more information on the horse, Socks - his height, colour, name, description, where he was sold from, who he was sold to and what area they lived in, indication of Sock's likes (showjumping) and dislikes (dressage).

Editing Your Advert

You are allowed to edit your own adverts to add more information. Your advert will then become unpublished and unapproved until it has been checked and approved once more. To add photos, please email us. This is so that we can keep a track of which adverts have been updated and can alter the "A Complete List" section accordingly

Photos

A photo plays a very important part in people recognising your horse. We allow 2 photos per advert

It is best to get photos of your horse as close to the time when you bought/sold him from both sides and in summer/winter. Photos are restricted to 2 photos per advert or a link to an online photo album. Photos can be sent to us at info@tracingequines.co.uk as we do not allow the uploading of images.

Do you have photos but no way of scanning them on to your computer ? Don't worry. You can send your photo(s) to us and we will scan them in for you, send you the photos via email and then post your photos back to you. Our address can be provided upon request and it would be helpful if you can send a S.A.E. when you send your photos as this will help keep costs down. We do not charge for this service but donations are greatfully received.
