Manufacturer’s ISO Codes

ISO transponders contain 15 numbers. The first three digits identify the manufacturer. These codes are issued by
ICAR (International Committee for Animal Recording) and a complete list with descriptions and pictures can be
found on the following website - http://www.service-icar.com/manufacturer_complete.php

The following list was adapted from this website and represents all the manufacturers that provide implantable
ISO transponders (FDX-B) as of March 19, 2003.

(*List not added*)

Microchip Country Codes

If an ISO Transponder’s code starts with a number other than 9, the manufacturer has placed the ISO assigned
Country Code as the first three digits.

Another couple websites to try

https://www.anibase.com/ - Anibase is the original and still most modern national database, managing the details of over 5 million microchipped pets and their owners.

http://www.ndg.nl/ - The Dutch Foundation Database Companion (NDG) aims to identify and reunite with animal owner.

Horse Passport Agency

Website - http://www.horsepassportagency.co.uk

NEW MICROCHIP CHECK (26/09/2012) :- On Friday 27th the National Equine Database will close, removing the facility for Passport Issuing Organisations (PIOs) and the public to search the database for information collected from all 75 PIOs.

In light of this the Horse Passport Agency has now made a microchip search publicly available to allow users to check numbers against the Horse Passport Agency and Pleasure Horse Society databases. If a microchip is not found it may still be registered on one of the other 74 PIO databases.

We hope that DEFRA and the PIOs can work together to allow all this microchip data to be held on one free, publicly accessible, database in the future.

How this works

Type the microchip number in the box and click the binocular symbol

If you do not get a match, you get this message - (your microchip number) has not been found

If you do get a match, you get this message - A match was found on our Horse Passport Agency database for microchip (x)

What do I do next ?

If you get a match, contact the Horse Passport Agency with the chip number you were checking and ask for their help with whatever information you were looking for

The following PIOs have made their microchip data available to be searched on this database:
(list correct as of 28 june 2016)

Anglo European Studbook
Caspian Horse Society
Coloured Horse and Pony Society UK
Horse Passport Agency (IRE)
Horse Passport Agency Ltd
Pet ID Equine
Pleasure Horse Society
The Sports Pony Studbook Society
The United Saddlebred Association UK
Trakehner Breeders Fraternity
