checking spanish microchips and ueln numbers

Post by TracingEquines »

Hi Trish,

I am sure that you are aware that ALL imported horses must be registered with the relevant British PIO within 30 days of import so that they can have their passports updated with new ownership details and be overstamped as UK resident. So BAPSH Ltd hold information for thousands of PREs, PRE partbreds, and non-pedigree Spanish type horses.

For people interested in checking details of a horse overseas (or in the UK) before they buy it :-
The world wide studbook for Spanish Purebred horses (PRE) is available for everyone to access, and you can look up microchips and ueln codes on this studbook, as well as horse's names; the website is - www.lgancce.com - and there is an English language version.

Non-pedigree horses from Spain - sometimes described by the seller/dealer as Andalusians - Unfortunately it is not possible to track any back ground on the majority of these horses. Since 2010 they are now passported by the local regional government offices in Spain, and the passports are just like the non-pedigree passports issued in the UK - without any breeding data or history. These government offices are not interested in providing any information, nor in doing transfers of ownership. Horses with this sort of passport are often eligible to be registered with BAPSH Ltd in Register IV providing the horse shows some PRE characteristics, and so we can then update names and addresses etc in these passports.

I hope this is the sort of information you were seeking,

your sincerely
Mary McBryde
